Hi all,
I'm very new in this forum. And i have a doubt about status of joint configuration for platform boat landing (TKY connection). Using 4" & 3" pipe Sch 80, the drawing for contractor A shown all fillet welds for joining members. Then, looking for other project for contractor B using same material, size & thickness, their joints configuration is single bevel.. Big Q?
My questions is:
1) For contractor A, is their welders required to test with 6GR WQT? (production is fillet welds, but in TKY connection).
2) Which joint configuration is better for joining members for boat landing? Fillet/groove welds? I'm already ask my engineer but the answer is, design/drawing already approved. I'm wondering about their strength, stress..etc. Is it joint configuration doesn't related with thickness, diameter, etc for tubular connection?
Hope somebody can working out about this matter according D1.1 since i am very new in steel structural field..

Thanks
