To anyone who really wants a job welding and shipfitters. There are jobs at NGSS INGALLS SHIPYARD in pascagoula, mississippi. The pay for first class is about 21.50
per hour and their are benefits with it. There are some contracting people working at the shipyard like pipefitters 27 an hour plus 100 dollars a day per diem plus overtime.

thanks I'll pass the word along to some people I know that live more in that area.

They still don't pay that much for contractors. I heard at Northrope Gruman contractors are making like 32 an hour although if it is a little safer then northrope then it'll be worth it

Also I heard from one of the NGSS supervisors that they have a contract welder who was laid off from CATERPILLAR .He is getting paid 35 dollars an hour with no
benefits. I am not sure but they didnt mention any per diem for this welder. The shipyard is really hurting for people who can do quality work . Us [QA specialists] deal
with it every day with structure misaligned, poor welding, bad weld joint fit ups, weld joints not cleaned properly prior to welding,etc.,etc.,etc. I write up the defects
on a CAR [CORRECTIVE ACTION REQUEST] to get correction of defects and create a quality history for SUP SHIP QA management.

I personally wouldn't go into anything as a contractor, I only want full benefits and all but I know alot of guys i work with would rather be a contractor for the money. I work at Textron in New Orleans east as a aluminum welder but there are some carbon steel wleders there I know and if they really are *****ing alot about there job I'll mention it to them about this place.
I don't want to leave from where I am, yeah it's a pain sometimes but for the most part it isn't bad.
