Hi all, this is a two part question.  (1) is the aws D1.1 and D1.6 compatible to the BS EN 1011/2 and BS EN 1011/3 ? We are fabracting a project that has those codes on the shop prints. Would it be ethical to call their engineer and ask if we could use the aws codes if they are within range of each other?   (2) What is the best transfer mode (gmaw-fcaw) to use on 1.25 to .25 thk. a36 mild steel, they are .3125 fillet welds. Wire dia. shielding gas ,ect. Hope to hear from ya !  Thanks  Jim B.

Answer to question n° 1: There's nothing wrong in calling your client's project engineer (or engineering consultant) and ask for his permission to use AWS (or some other American applicable code) instead of BS. However, I doubt that the permission will be granted.
I'll leave question n° 2 to be answered by some experienced welder.
