I wanted to post the same question in the technical section to get some more specific, technical answers to this problem I've had with cracks right next to the weld on 2" sched 40 pipe. What specifically make this pipe of a lower quality and is it something I can remedy with a different welding technique?

Thanks,

GH Weidman

Need more info.  What is the pipe material and what type of electrode is being used for the weld?

Grade B seamless; 2" sched 40. Welded with a 5P+ bead, 70+ hot, fill and cap; all downhill.

Thanks,

API XX Grade B or is it an A-10X or A-2XX grade B???

In other words, are there any markings on the pipe which would give us more specific details as to what is the type of alloy you're dealing with because just saying: "Grade B" is not enough information to offer help... are there any numbers to the left of "Grade B" on the pipe itself? If you could post them, then we might be able to help, or if you have any access to some paper work for the pipe in question.

Respectfully,
Henry

Lessins I'm a somehows mistooken.

Duh!! Yore 1" must be 1.1875" O.D.
Thought I was loosin it in my old age.
