How about this, a Chinese fabricator having welding problems?  Can you believe they choose a shop over 6K miles away(in China none the less) to fabricate the new Bay bridge? Unbelievable. This proves that we have sold out quality for low price. That low bid only looks good on paper. These people ought to be spanked for this.

JohnJohn,
Sad to say, but it is not much of a surprise. It is happening more and more these days.

I just hope that, God forbid, if and when something bad happens they are thrown to the wolves and not bailed out for making bad choices.

Just because it's made in China does not mean it's low quality.
I have seen many good products from China.

I have as well. It is when a lower cost avenue is sought out over quality that the bad apples surface. China does not have the market cornered on this, but they are pretty close.

The real problem will start, when they do things as good as "us" or even worse; they do it better.

The sad truth be known allot of the time it’s not the Chinese fault, they are producing exactly what & how their American Corporation employers ask for.

Face it. It’s the way of the world. It’s a different generation now but Japan use to have the honor title (Junk producers) bestowed upon them.

I can remember very well some very unqualified Welders blaming lousy O/A cuts on “That cheap Japanese steel”. But they were in the same boat as China is now.

We were once a mighty industrial nation supplying the world and now we are a mighty nation of consumers looking for more and cheaper goods to consume.

It’s not to hard to figure out once you accept the fact that there are more poor people in the world than middle class and well to do people. That’s where the market is and that is who gets listened to about PRICE, not to be confused with COST.

If you are a business person you should know the difference but to the average consumer PRICE is all that concerns them.
