Hey fellas-

I have a drawing from a customer requiring some components be attached and welded per AWS D1.2 (2003), and this particular weld symbol calls for a resistance spot weld, has no size or strength call out either. The processes listed in D1.2 (4.1) does not include RSW. Commentary C4.1 states the processes covered by the code are limited to GMAW,GTAW,PAW-VP, and SW. As far as I can tell, RSW is not allowed per D1.2, is there somthing I am missing? I guess what I'm really asking is, can resistance spot welding process somehow be used under D1.2, even thought it isn't listed in the the process list on 4.1?

Thanks
Jason

After speaking with the customer, they decided to change the spot weld call out to plug welds. Plus that makes things a bit easier for us too.
