Up Topic Welding Industry / General Welding Discussion / vantage 300 vs commander 300?

I was looking at buying a commander 300 and was wondering if it was a good machine. The one Im looking at has the chopper, and dig control. What is the difference between the vantage and the commander? Is it any good for pipe?

I think that you can't get new computer boards for the Commanders since the Vantage took it's place.

The commander is a tough machine but it sucks on pipe I have one that I keep around for air arc and I am pretty sure it is bullet proof. However on pipe the vantage will weld circles around it I would go with the 500 in the 300 frame if your doing pipe and want a ton of ac power I prefer the classic 300d myself I don't need that much ac IMHO.
