I've built two, but the louvers in the stainless were distorting, so the one I have at the laser guys right now should cure it. You'll defiantly have the coolest one out there, should be ready within the next week or two......bring$$$
I would be interested in a S/S hood , but I feel that the brake lines on the top are very unattractive and just doesn't look good . Are you capable of making them without the lines ? Also , can you build all the sheetmetal parts out of S/S ? Radiator support , frame hoops , front panel , etc ?
our hoods DO NOT have those unsightly lines in the radi of the hood, all are rolled into shape, I can build all the pieces out of stainless, just email me and we can discuss it all
Motobilt , you need to scroll up and relook at your pics you posted . I reveiwed them twice and the pics you posted in your original post above ... they are indeed broke with lines . Maybe you posted some wrong pics or something because your other pic of the S/S hood is a nice piece . Check those pics above ... I'm just saying .
I see. No offense but the hood in the second pic looks much better than the first. It appears to have an overall "smoother" contour to it. Again, maybe just an optical illusion.
Maybe this will help, one hood is one a customer had chromed (which should show the reason not to have one chromed) and later opted to go stainless, and the other is a stainless steel, also, Our stainless hoods are made of 304 mill scale stainless and will polish very easily should you want the chrome look
I can tell first hand that motobuilt does great work. He built all skins for my shorthood project. His work was flawless. I have been to his shop in okc...ya'll ought to see his street rod projects in his shop. He is Jesse James of sheet metal.
I will say I like the looks of them. I think I got a little hung up on the no bends its all rolled deal. I am pretty clear on what the deal is now. Corners are rolled and there are 2 or 3(?) breaks in the top section.
I still think the one in the second pic looks better than the the one in the first, but that is just my opinion.
I would guess fit would be just a little higher on the priority list what with the final cosmetic appearance being what it is for most customers.
I agree Shorthood. I had him do the sheetmetal and radiator cover for mine a couple months ago and his work is awesome. Hey Jeff, that hood with the laser cut-out looks kinda familiar! lol Everybody loves the way the sheetmatal on the machine looks with that polished stainless sittin behind it. When I re-do my 67, you'll be doin the sheetmetal for it too so now just gotta think of somethin different than the other one.
yea, yours came out nice, Kaye has some pics of it on Bills site, I have a really cool idea for some great bling for the next attention whore, lol. , short hoods hood is going to blind everyone when its done
I , too would like to apologize . You are correct , the RADIUS is smooth as a babies' bottom . I was referring to the brakes in the top portion . My misunderstanding . Again , I'm sorry for the communication break down .
dam those are some dam nice hoods I really like the one with the lincoln electric laser cut in the side. I've been wanting to replace my hood for a while and the radiator cover as well
I could build them without the 3 brakes in the top, and just radius them, but would be afraid they might get "floppy" on rough roads, the 3 brakes really ads a lot of strength.
Keep doing them as you have. i want mine rigid. im taking my armiture cover to Ramos in okc and having it chromed. I just need curb feelers on my truck to be complete!!!
Thanks to all who have purchased parts in the past few weeks, Just a Heads up that our %15 off sale ends the last day of Sept, so If you are looking at buying some parts for your Lincoln, and you can swing it, now would be the time, thanks all, Jeff
