I am fighting with oSHA on the required protective equipment for a welder's helper. Does anyone have some experience with winning a battle to keep employees that work around a welding area out of a welding helmet?

Thanks
Bill

helpers must wear proper clothing and eye protection with side shields and of proper shade around 2.5 to a 5
other workers must be protected by curtains either solid or the colored transparent type.
you must protect all from harmfull rays of welding even visitors.
far as i know no one has to wear a welding hood except the welder
you may even have helpers wear the full face shields.
a lot of arc burned eyes are caused from reflection off of walls or
other large objects.
that is why one should wear proper tinted safe t glasses with side shields.
