I am needing to know what the minmal size of weld that can be welded on weldolets. The only thing that I can find says ( to 3/4" ) the min. size is 1/4". Is this right?? Then I have heard that it needs to be 1.5 times the wall thickness of the piping that its going to be welded to.

If you do a search on this subject you will find a lot of discussion. I don't think you will care much for the answer though.

Along with what has already been said in this thread, you also need to contact the manufacturer of the WOL.  Each manufacturer has their own specification of how much weld is required based on what size WOL you are using.  We have used WOI and Bonny fittings recently and they are similar, but not the same.  Both companies have a recommended guide on their website that shows you what you need to know (if you are using one of these companies WOL's).

What specification are you working to? That is what matters. Suggest you follow this if you work to B31.3. Figure 1 for integrally reinforced branches I think.

Good info. I've been welding mostly socket welds and o-lets.
Keep the posts coming.
