Does anyone know of a current military or commercial specification for fusion or inertia welding?

ASME Section IX has rules for qualifying inertia, or continuous drive friction welding.

The military specifications are being converted to commercial specifications where possible. For fusion welding, MIL-2219 is now controlled by the SAE (Society of Automotove Engineers) and is AMS-STD-2219. They are essentially identical except for format.

For qualifying welders and welding operators MIL-1595 is now AMS-STD-1595.

You can order them from www.sae.org. When you do a search, omit the dashed so you would look for AMSSTD2219.
