D1.5:2002 permits the contractor to apply weld identification/information (in addition to the required information) adjacent to the weld, in this case no more than 20 mm (3/4") from the weld. The commentary in C6.10.12 may provide further insight. It should be noted that the additional information is required to be present on the radiograph.
