What is the hydrogen level on the esab and lincoln? Are they H8 or lower? Hobart's wire with the H8 and impact strength sold me on it.

esab gives a chart that estimates the hydrogen based on wire diam, time removed from package, and 80 % humidity ha ha sooooo
for example .072 dia left out for 5 days gets a score of 8.7
they are both low hydrogen wires t8

Call me I'll help you I am all ready set up for that kind of work I use Triple 7. I got a big blue 402D CC/CV 14-40V and 100FT gas hose & cable.

tripe 7 is a T1 wire  GAS shielded flux core,  they want self shielded

I know, self sheilded isn't worth the time it take to load it on the feeder.

Amen! Please tell J HALL that ( look back a few posts )

It's still faster than 7018......1/8 7018 vs 1/16 Coreshield 8, big difference in deposition.
According to ESAB,  1/8 7018 @ 140 amps, 2.7 lbs/hr  1/16 Coreshield 8 @ 155 amps,4.16 lbs/hr  220 amps,7.5 lbs/hr

It may be faster , the wire I tried was Lincoln NR something .045 it ran like a wet 6010. I haven't tried Coresheild . BTW I was just having a little fun with my last post , not trying start an arguement. If I can learn something new I'm all for that . Maybe I'll try the Coresheild.

I laughed when I saw it. But I had to put some info in too.
FWIW, I still prefer 7018...

How do you prefer to weld out of position, outdoors in a windy environment ? Dual shield is awsome, it pretty much welds itself, even the biggest retards can use it.

i love 7018 but it wont keep up with coreshield 8 out of position

i run the .072 diam. coreshield 8, my vertical and overhead settings are usually about 22 volts and 200ipm, relatively low considering you can turn it up to 25 volts or so.  still the deposition is like 8 lbs an hour and thats for out of position.

I would go with a LN 25 and .072 Lincoln NR 232.
