Hey Len,
Sounds like you have some good ideas...
Why not get on the D1.7 committee yourself?
I bet they would love your input.

Lawrence,
My time is limited and my day job employer does not cover expense for AWS committee participation. Selvis Morales ( smorales@aws.org ) was e-mailed my three plus pages of comments.
Len,
Lawrence makes a good suggestion.
My question: I have not yet read D1.7, does it cover bridges as well as other structures, or is it mainly geared to Structures built to D1.1 that now need more work for expansion or repair? I thought it was mainly developed to expand upon D1.1 Clause 8.
That asked, Your comments and experience appear to be some that would be much appreciated by either D1.5, 1.1, or 1.7 committees. Thanks for your comments.
Have a Great Day, Brent
Brent,
"D1.7/D1.7M:2010, Guide for Strengthening and Repairing Existing Structures" is a general document I believe developed with a D1.1 focus. I do not recall much saying be careful where it is used or excluding bridges. Note above!
In closing, any chance to go to warm place appreciated!
Sincerely
Len Andersen
