I think the polls are OK, as long as you don't use them for anything.

ross could make a poll asking if it should be used for anything.

Ross,

just returned from staying abroad and... huuh... that's somewhat different to what I saw the day before yesterday!

Just on a first view. Have you eliminated the 'Rating System'?

Regards,
Stephan

Stephan,  in Ross's first post on this thread he said that after all the bugs are worked out of the change and everything else is functioning properly they will take a look at how the ratings system works.  Probably at that point will make a decision on rather to keep it, ditch it, or modify it.  JMHO of his meaning.

Have a Great Day,  Brent

Brent,

you're right!

Thanks for that!

I was just a bit confused due to Ross' statement saying (quote) "EDIT: Just did the upgrade. What the heck."

Apparently to me, he had carried out the upgrade already and the 'rating' had disappeared. Therefore my assumption, the decision to eliminate it had been taken and 'sealed'.

Thanks a lot however, for pointing me - again - in the right direction! :-)

All the best,
Stephan

Ross, after I posted my comment to Stephan, when I click 'Post', it just puts me back at the top of the thread instead of showing the end of the thread for a final look at how my post looks.

And, as others, when I logged in and saw you had responded to my earlier post, I clicked on it and was put at the top of the thread.  Had to go all the way down through to find where it was.

Overall, looks like it is going to come together pretty good.  This from another guy 'WHO HATES CHANGE'.  Good Luck.  And thank you for all your work.

Have a Great Day,  Brent

Now I understand what people have been saying about this. Will fix.

I just returned to the forum today after a busy week.  Notice a change, but didn't really effect me that much cause I really don't understand how this stuff works anyway.  Besides I've visited about 4 other forums in the past; and this one is by far the leader in user friendly:  At least for me; I'm a bit computer dumb anyway.

Overall I would say you were successful.

By the way Ross, are you a computer programmer or a welder or both?  Just wondering?

Take Care:

Steve

Ross
It seems you have the bugs worked out pretty good.
Thanks

The yellow "new" icons are too pale; harder to see which are new and which aren't.  Is that something you have any control over?

Hg
Parent - By ross (***) Date 02-03-2010 17:57
Yes I can do this.

Ross

Yellow across the top of the post means new.  What does green mean?

Hg
Parent - By ross (***) Date 02-03-2010 20:50
I think green might be when there's a new reply to a post. I don't know, I'm not a power user and I don't use the forum the same way you guys do. Maybe someone can help Hg?

Ross

Hg,
When you first log in all threads with new posts in them will be yellow. When you open up the thread it should automatically take you to the new post. Now lets say you log in and do not open a thread with new posts and then log out and before you log back in there are more new posts added. The oldest unread posts will be green and the newest posts will be yellow.

So in short, green is old unread and yellow is new unread. Clear as mud, LOL?
