Will weld about 5" and slowly run out of arc put on high idle will not keep full RPM even with grinders runs the same any info would be helpfull. Thanks,

Fuel problem most likely a filter at least that was my problem.

Does it eventually die? Mine did something similiar but would eventually die ended up being the alternator

It never died but struggled to keep running.

I replaced the battery charging just fine

Mine charged just enough to keep the battery okay but for some reason it would only weld about 5inches then screw up

Take the air filter out and see what happens.

If the air filter is clogged it will make dark smoke under load. If the fuel filter is cloged it will just die out when load increases.

If it has a glass bowl, there is a fine screen above it that tends to plug up(had this problem a couple times).Turn the pedcock ,off undue  the thumb screw on the bottom of the glass bowl(watch you don't break it,sometimes there stuck on pretty good)if you look up underneath you'll see the fine screen just be careful when you remove it .Hope this helps you.Regards,Bob

Thanks for all the info fuel filter was full of rust and shaveing changed everything out good as new.

It's the little things in life that I think most of us do on a routine basis, fuel filter, oil, oil filter, air filter. I think they call it preventive maintance. lol
