One of our codes (ISO 13847) says:

"Destructive testing shall be performed at ambient temperature. For design-service temperature greater than 75° C, consideration should be given to performing elevated temperature tensile tests"

Our design temperature is +82.2° C.

So should I perform the tensile test @ ambient or elevated temperature?

Replies are highly appreciated.

"Shall" means you have to, so it looks like you must do ambient temp tests.  Since your service temp is above 75C, you should consider doing elevated tests, but you don't have to.

If you are a PE you must pay due diligence. If the elevated temperature may affect the mechanical properties then you must do the tests at the elevated temperature.

Thanks...I didn't understand PE...

Before this we tested it at elevated temperature and one more at ambient temperature.... there was a difference of only 5 MPa in UTS :-)
