someone used the wrong filler.  80S-B2 used instead of the 70S-2.   The application was carbon steel pipe .  The root pass and hot pass were welded with the 80S-2.   Will the hardness increase in the weldzone be detrimental to service of pipe which is a fire water line.

I would say it probably won't make a bit of difference but it isn't up to me of course. You need to NCR the joint and propose a disposition as is.
Not to mention most likely requal a weld procedure.
However, it would probably be cheaper to just cut it out as opposed to requaling.

yah JS has the answer, you could requal the procedure with 80s-2 and do bend tests and tensile pulls and see if the material will work in service.  If it's just one joint or a few joints, probably faster and cheaper to cut out and reweld.
