A572 Grade 50 - A514 Grade E, Can both be welded with ER 110s-1 (not welded together but in seperate applications) Does anyone know the minimum Interpass temperature for A514.

Hello Ronnie, this is a bit off the cuff and there can be other factors that might influence choices here. Mittal lists the following rough preheats/interpass temps for A514. Should not exceed 400F for thicknesses under 1 1/2" and 450F for thicknesses exceeding 1 1/2". For the A514 the ER 110s-1 is sufficient for like strength requirements, in some instances you can use lesser strengths depending upon application. The A572 can actually be welded with ER70s-x electrodes as it doesn't have the higher tensile strengths like the A514 does. Applications will have everything to do with which particular filler will be properly suited for welding these materials. This is a very generic response, I'm sure others will have more detailed and involved responses. Best regards, Allan

Refer to table 3.2 in AWS D1.1. The footnotes provide the information you are requesting.
