Does anybody could help and clarify if the Japanese Std steel plates of SS400 is the equivalent of Chinese Std of Q345B?

I would say no as the YS of SS400 can be a lot lower than the 345 material

Nantong,
What are the mechanical properties of the Chinese material.
We are using 4000 ton of SS400 here in Thailand so I may be able to help.
Regards,
Shane

345N/mm2 yield, impacts at 0C, believe SS400 is equivalent to A36 with a yield of only 240N/mm2

Nantong,
As per the MTC supplied by the mill are concerned, Y.S of SS400 are ranging from 300 - 315N/mm2. However for the Chinese Std. of Q345B, the Y.S are ranging from 350 - 440N/mm2. In this case, SS400 are to be classified as Mild strength and it's not the equivalent of Q345B? What would be the equivalent of Q345B to Japanese Std.

I'd do a web search by UNS number.

490 would cover it.

Yes, SM 490 are the equivalent.

Thanks...
