Up Topic Welding Industry / General Welding Discussion / Tidweld reels? Alumareels?

Im looking to purchase some new cord reels but am debating between Alumareel and the Tidweld reels.  My question is on the Tidweld reels do you need to unplug the reel to wind it up or like the Alumareel can you just wind it up?   Ive heard nothing but good things about the Tidweld reels,  but haven't heard much about the Alumareel except that there are pricey,  if any one has the Alumareels would you let me know how you like them.  Thanks for the help.

Cactus has TidWelds I believe.  Also might try contacting Kaye at Bill's Welder Repair in OKC.  She has some that are said to be really good for the price.

I have Alumareel lead reels and they have worked great. The folks there are easy to get along with. I also have a Tidweld torch hose reel, and it is an example of quality workmanship. I haven't mounted it yet but it looks real good and Mr. Tidwell is a heck of a nice guy.

Tidwells DO NOT have to be disconnected. I love mine and would not use anything else. They are not cheap but I think they are worth every penny

Does tidweld make a leed reel as well?

They make Lead Reels, Torch Reels, Electric Reels, Remote Reels etc....

They didn't have lead reels when I bought my Alumareels.

I tried it too, and there is something freaky going on.

if you go the reel route, I would mount them out of the site of thieves.  Of course it depends where you live, but up here, if it isn't bolted down in such a way that the bolts cannot be undone, it's gone.  Kind of a sad thought, but don't leave the temptation open for them if you can avoid it.
