Up Topic Welding Industry / General Welding Discussion / What would an old SAE 300 be worth?

I recently came across an old SAE300 but have never been around one of these. Always SA 200's and newer equipment. Dont have the codes for it yet to find out what year it is.
What would be a fair price to give for one of these. It has the Buda engine in it which I believe has a bad bearing. Other than that, I am told it welded fine when the guy who owns it quit running it. Whats the parts availablity for this thing? Could it be converted over to a diesel? I have read where these were outfitted with diesels also. Just looking at options for a project.

If it has a Buda it's old.  You can get parts from
Buda Engine Co. in Shreveport, LA but there not cheap.

Thanks for the reply. The machine is definitely old; and what a beast! This thing makes a 200 look like a toy... plus it has ten gears and the rheostat is about 8 inches in diameter! Definitely more than I would want to have for a backup machine sizewise so I think Im going to pass on this one. Its been sitting out in a field for quite a few years from the looks of it although it is complete.
