Section 055/Phoenix Oct 20, 2010 Meeting

The next scheduled meeting for AWS/AZ Section 055 is October 20th, (edit: Wednesday), 2010 at 7:00 pm. As of now it is scheduled to be at the Grace Inn off I-17 at S. 51st St; Phoenix, AZ. This may be followed by a meeting the following Friday in Tucson on the same subject. More to come (CHANGED TO OCTOBER 20 IN PHOENIX)

The speaker is to be Dr. Ralph Long a former section officer and current instructor of welding at one of our colleges.

The topic is to be 'Reducing Costs & Improving Quality Through The Use of Welding Procedure Specifications'.

There is much misunderstanding about the writing and usage of WPS's. If you have any involvement or interest in the proper usage of WPS's or how it may benefit you and/or your operation it would be a good opportunity to learn more about them.

There will be a Tucson meeting the following Friday, October 22, 2010 at Pima College. Ralph Long will make the same presentation as at Phoenix on the (EDIT: 20TH, WEDNESDAY)

Plan to attend. It should be very informative. I am trying to post the beginnings of a section newsletter we are working on which has an excellent announcement on the meetings.

Related to the meeting on 10/15/10 the Grace Inn is off the US-10 not the US-17. See you there.

Thanks for the clarification Rob. The two merge in Phoenix and it is indeed the 10 you continue on until you find the exit.

Hope to see many there. Should be some very good information. Along the lines of what Al Moore has been offering in the Inspections Trends articles lately though concentrating on using the SWPS offered by AWS. But also looking at the use of all WPS's for welding jobs.
