Have a requirement to weld 1" x 1" x 0.065" wall square tubing,  steel A 513
Drawing calls out to follow AWS D1.1
Need to qualify a weld procedure, and a couple of welders.
Information I am aware of has the lower limit of 1/8" in D1.1.
There must be another standard for writing a WPS for light gage tube.
Anyone with info would be appreciated.

Since you need to qualify a procedure, B2.1 would be a good place to start.  I believe AWS sells a GTAW < 1/8" that you might be able to use for structural tube work, but not if you're doing TYK connections.

D1.1  sub clause 1.2  limitations (2) "When base metals thinner than 1/8 in. (3mm) thick are to be welded, the requirements of AWS D1.3, Structural Welding Code - Sheet Steel, should apply.  When used in conjunction with AWS 1.3, conformance with the applicable provisions of this code shall be required.

Key word, "Should Apply", but you don't have to.  You can still follow all the clauses and be legal with specialzed PQR's below 1/8" Min with the D1.1 code.  D1.3 is a lot more forgiving when it comes to PQR's though.  I had to qualify material below an 1/8" for T-K-Y connections to D1.1 once upon a time.
