How good of shape is your 68 in. Chopped machines look nice but there a real b*tch to work on. Keep as much space as you can between your fuel tank and front panel.

Cut down radiator support 5", lifting eye. I build a new front panel the style of a 58 redface. Makes it easier than chopping and recutting the existing front panel. Have the radiator double cored and I install the 3817 electric fan.

Easiest thing to do to keep from getting hot is goe center hole 4 inches up cut that out  cut 4 outa batery box. Take rad to rad shop or do ur self. Cut neck out move far right corner. Cut 4 outa strap in middle off the bottom then weld back to frame. It shoudnt get hot and can use factory fan. There's tons different ways do it.  I've  cut six outa face 2 outa dead bottom drop motor and armeture 2 for total of 8 used factory fan and rad. It's just how deep u wanna go into it  thinking bout goin 5 more with my old machine for a total of 10 1/2 that just sets as a back up.  Biggest thing with old gas machines is if it runs wArm factory I wouldnt chop it.  It looks cool and cool to see outa back window. But. It really not worth it when it takes two people and 30 min to get band round armeture off due to lack of completely no room.  If ur still in gr  I'm here u can come look at my 200d

I think you should just cut the top off and drop a Vantage in it !

I've never done it, have no need to ever do it. But on a long hood, (Red Face) keeping the tank in place I can't see any real issues. Get rid of all the angle iron supports, and replace with flatbar. May have to slide the tank forward just a bit to clear the back of the engine. If you can't take the hood forward, notch the hood hole a little and cut a bigger rubber gasket. On my Red Face the front of the tank is only about 1 inch from the rheostat.
When you lower the radiator, and lose the battery box, wonder how hard it would be to mount a battery over the oil filter?

Now on a shorthood they just didn't leave a lot of room to lower the tank.
