Up Topic American Welding Society Services / AWS Learning & Education / Pipe stretch out?

Forgive me if this has already come up, but while I remember Calculating pipe stretch-outs for making coping templates back in school, I cannot recall the process in detail.  As I've been doing a lot more fitting with my new-ish (Coming up on a year at the end of October) job lately, I've come to understand that it would be good to brush up on the basics.  Most of my resources are back down south so I do not have access to them.  Any advice would be skookum!

As I recall, the process involved a top down view of the joint, and then the stretch out would be drawn out in full with the circumfrence of the pipe to size with 1" increments or so.

Thanks in advance!

Here is a page I made on my site years ago. http://weldingdata.com/pipetemplatesample.htm

There are many other pages out there.
