A friend of mine has an 09 with the 6.7L Cummins. He loves the truck but it has had several issues with carbon buildup in the turbo. Something to do with the variable pitch turbo or something like that? Other than that he likes the truck and it gets way better fuel efficency than my 6.4 powerstroke. The new Ford diesel is very impressive and gets the best fuel mileage of the big three. I test drove one a few days ago and was very impressed. here is a link to the new ford.

I vowed to never buy a first model year truck ever again so I am going to wait till 2012 before I make up my mind.

Soon as you can get rid of the EGR, DPF, and CAT! Buy the Black Maxx, EGR delete kit, and new exhaust.

I got an '08 Dodge 6.7.The reason people have trouble with carbon is they don't run the jake brake.

Thats what the service tech told him. I don't know why he wont use the exhaust brake? No need to use up brake pads...

I also know that  my buddies that have em say you have to drive the dog piss out of em.  Otherwise the DPF will get clogged up and you will have to take it to the stealership.

Neighbor's got a '10 6.7 cummins. It had just a few miles from test drives. It's just turned 10k miles on it. He loves it, but cuss's the fuel mileage. That's the only complaint I've heard him tell me about it.

I have an 07 cab & chassis, weighs In at 9,100# (330# Aluminum flatbed) with the Black Maxx set at 428 horse I get 19 MPG highway.

All you need to do on that turbo is pipe you some oxygen acetylne in ahead of it and then just give it the juice every once in a while and that carbon thing is a thing of the past. lmao

Does removing the EGR, and all that stuff you mentioned do anything to the warranty? The reason I ask, is for my neighbor. He's willing to get alittle dirty or spend alittle to bump fuel mileage up.

Yes sir, you can kiss your warranty good by if you get caught! I waited until my warranty was up, but a lot of people keep everything, and replace it, and return the computer to factory settings before going into the dealer.

got a friend with an 07' 6.7 that just went out of warranty, just did a clutch on it as well. Never had a chip on it, bought with 10k miles on it. Has had 2-3 injectors put in it(warranty) has also had issues with the carbon build up, same reason was told to him, use jake brake. He's getting ready to do the dpf delete, says fuel mileage is horrible. I'll keep my 02', got 18 mpg on the other tank I ran at 9600lb vehicle weight. 50hp Diablo power puck is all that's on it....oh, and a straight pipe.
