I need to weld some AMPCO 18 wear pads to ASTM A500 square tube in a non-critical, non-code compliant application.
I'm not familiar with the AMCO 18. I understand it to be an Aluminum Bronze or Silicon Bronze alloy.
I'm thinking to use silicon bronze filler metal.
Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Tim Gary

I have never welded it, but have used it extensively as a bolt on wear plate. It is extremely tough, if You need to cut it with a bandsaw, use a hook tooth blade. Others won't cut it well.
