In D17.1  Section 4.3.3.1.paragraph 2,3 talks about the qualification of fillet welds on material with thickness less than .063" and the qualification of tube welds on outside diameters of 1 inch or less.

I want to qualify a fillet weld that goes around a bolt head (solid) that has a .310" O.D to a plate that is .032".

So, do I have to qualify a fillet on a tube .250" O.D. .035"to plate .035" or would a sheet metal "T" section work
