IP Internal Porosity?

Round here they call it LOF = lack of fusion or "Hollow bead" which means a defect in between 2 passes..............turn it up or slow down the travel speed and burn it in there,I'd turn it up myself. IP is insufficiant penetration which means...............either a better fit up is needed or turn it up.

You'd think the x-ray tech could offer a little more than he just knows what it looks like.

I'm pretty sure that knowledge of weld process discontinuities is a prerequisite for obtaining level II RT certification. Sorry to say but if an RT hand doesn't know what Incomplete Fusion (LOF) is, he's got no business doing RT on welds. The other guy was probably just a helper, or worse yet, a trainee, who, given the quality of his mentor, probably will also never know what LOF is.
