Dear Friends
AWS D1.1 -It is mandatory all welding shall only be done as min. by qualified and certificated tack-welder BUT
My contrcator argues, if the tack-weld is not going to be part of final weld as the otherside will be backgouged to acheive FP,why the fitter turned tack-welder has to be qualified and certified. Isn't experience is good enough?
How i can convince him?
Thanks

Common practice is for the tacker to be qualified, but in the event that isn't the case, the noncomplient tack welds have to be removed before the premanent weld is deposited.

Best regards - Al
