Well..after some unforeseen circumstances last week I'm going to have to give up on my shorty project and get to work. I just can't spend any more time or money on her right now. According to the serial # and code (1903) it's a '51 model. I have not got it started yet but shouldn't take much. I have just installed the following:
Remanufactured starter
New alternator
New belt
All new hoses
New fuel bowl assy with fuel line and inline filter
Fresh oil and new filter
New K&N air filter
Thermostat and gasket
New battery and cables It cranks over really well. It is not frozen. the engine is a F162. The engine shows no signs of leaking at all. What you see in the pics is water from a rain this morning.
It sits on a trailer (with bad tires) that would bring good money at the scrap yard or make a fine boat anchor for you fishermen. $950

Charlie, the original oil bath air cleaner is still installed on the machine.  I took it off and cleaned it real good and put it back on sans any oil.  I did that to protect the carb.  The K & N air filter is still in the box and has never been installed.  As far as getting it running I really don't think that it's much.  It cranks really good. I don't know if maybe the carb is in need of cleaning or if it just may need new points, etc.  I really wish that I could keep on playing with it or could take it to someone to fix it for me but I am just out of time. As far as shipping I don't know about that.

I cannot believe I still have this welder! Someone bring me $750 and get it out of my yard before my wife kills me! At that price all you paid for is the new stuff that is on it and you'd be getting a shorthood for $0.....

Do you still have the shorty? Do you have a way to load it on a truck and keep the trailer that its on.
