I ran across a welding symbol that I need an answear on. It has a dashed line above the reference line, anyone ever see that before? What does it meen? Can't find it anywhere in the AWS standerd weld symbol book.

The dashed line comes from ISO 2553 weld symbol standards. The dashed line on top indicates that the weld is made on the arrow side of the joint. For example the dashed line is on top and the weld symbol is on bottom you weld on arrow side of joint. IF the weld symbol is on the dashed line that would indicate weld on the opposite of the arrow side.
