I almost fell out, I bought 3 sheets of 1/4" last week and they where 145.00 each, bought 2 more THIS WEEK 192.00

Yep, I called the steel store to get prices on 1/4 plate and he said don't wait too long to buy it because the price is going up every week. I'm not sure how long they will hold the quoted price. That makes bidding a job for some future date a little tricky.

I was paying $147.00, got an invoice last week it was $ 245.00. I was not happy especially since I had already billed my costumer .

Here in Brazil escalation formulae use to cover abnormal price increases of raw materials. Don't you have that in the States?

They are only holding prices around here for 7 days. My steel guy said prices jumped .14 cents/ pound in a day, if I remember correctly.

Be forwarned on your bids.....I call the suppliers daily and quote the price before I make a bid ....metal is crazy right now...I figured as much when copper took a big jump.

Well one good thing about the price of all metals is that it's good for the miners.  That industry is really picking up!

I reckon it is time for that coil of 4/0 cable (not welding cable) in the shop to hit the scrapyard for some gas/beer money.
