Waht size machine? You will need to know the weight, deminsions, and freight class to get a quote assuming it is too big to ups.

I have taken large stuff to Estes, dropped it off, and payed the money and left. Almost like a UPS transaction. I don't have an account either. The key is dropping it off at there terminal. They have a forklift there, and wont charge extra because you need a truck with a lift gate to pick it up if you don't have one. They also will charge more if you are sending it to a non-buisness address. But Estes, RL, and Conway are some I would check. Also Fed-EX has a freight line. Are you sure they are not charging more because you don't have a commercial adress.

I'll tell you exactly how to ship a welder...
I have shipped dozens of welders all over the country.
Get ahold of www.UNISHIPPERS.com
They have unbelievable prices on shipping.
For example,  I shipped a Lincoln Vantage 300 from Texas to Pennsylvania for 168 bucks and had it in 4 days.
I shipped an SA-200 from California to Pennsylvania for the same price.
Excellent outfit to deal with.
All you need to do is put the welder on a pallet or skid so they can move it around.
I have always dealt with Todd @ Unishippers... ask for him and tell him Steve from Pennsylvania told you that he was the go to man for shipping welders.
