What kind of boots are you guys wearing in the field? I used to buy only GA Boots and they were great until they were bought out and are now made in China. Since then I can't find anything that last and won't leak. I kneel down hundreds of times some days wich kills the seems on one foot. I also can't stand lace up boots because I burn the laces out. I will pay for top quality but I don't like throwing $150 at boots every two months.

Yes!  My last two pair have been airiats, they hold up well and look better than a plain old work boot.

For the past year or so i have been wearing Twisted X work boots. They are hands down the most comfortable boots I have ever wore.

Red Wing Pecos here. made in USA.First pair lasted 2 years, second pair the rubber sole delaminated(red wing store replace for free even after 7 monthes from purchase), and the pair I am on now over 8 monthes no problems. Around $150.

Same here. I really like my Red Wing Pecos pull-ons.

twisted x square toes are the best ever!

Whites Boots out of Spokane, Wa.  I still have the first pair I bought over 20 years ago, they've been rebuilt 3 times and still going strong.

Red Wing Pecos for ultimate durability at a slight sacrafice of comfort.
Wolverine Dura-Shocks for good durability and maximum comfort, especially on concrete.
Justin, I forget the model name, but with special soles for shock absorbing, is comparative with Wolverine.

My current are Ariats and I like them.

I have also used Danner, Red Wing, and others.  While I don't advocate going way overboard on the $$$ you will get what you pay for.  Don't try to go CHEAP with your feet.

I also have found that my feet like it if I have two pair that are different styles and switch at noon.  Keeps your feet, and the boots, drier and at least for me, my feet are much more relaxed at the end of the day.  The boots last longer as well.  More time to dry out between use.  Less bacterial build up.  Etc.

Just my two cents worth.

Have a Great Day,  Brent

I think the world of White's boots; but the man did ask about slip-on boots......................
Parent - By fschweighardt (***) Date 03-11-2011 12:52
He says he "hates them", so yeah I guess so.  I run the square leather laces and they last pretty good if the OP wants to try laceups again

I go with the cabela brand pull on waterproof and a lifetime warranty. If they start leaking water take them back and trade in they last about 2 years before you have to trade them in for a new pair.

Justin also has a line of American made pull ons. I have had mine about six months. They are holding up well for 120 bucks.

I like my redwings as well.  I dont think you can go wrong with em especially when the stores take such good care of you when you have problems.
Parent - By Robert48 (**) Date 03-12-2011 00:21
I think I am going to try the Redwings. I found a style I liked and got them on order at a local store.

This is it They odn't get any better for what we do.
Wolverine W01671 Fusion Metatarsal Wellington - Internal Met Guard, Steel Toe
I've been wearing them for years.
Parent - - By Skaggydog (**) Date 03-12-2011 04:09
P.S.  THEY HAVE A HEAT RESISTANT SOLE and are the most comfortable work boot I've ever warn.

P.O.S.  Redwings after you try Wolverines.
Parent - - By Tommyjoking (****) Date 03-12-2011 04:52
for pull ons I reckon I would go with red wings...I don't wear pull ons anymore.   I got a pair of Rockys that keep my feet comfortable.   I am picky as hell about shoes...I will spend two three hours trying boots on in just one store.....The comments on the Whites boots have me interested.
Parent - - By 99205 (***) Date 03-12-2011 07:33
Whites will do custom fitting but it's a little pricey.
Parent - - By Tommyjoking (****) Date 03-13-2011 01:41
I might have to check on that ....I really have a time finding a boot that does not hurt me by the end of the day.

I have a high arch and most of the work boots out there will give me sore feet.
I wear Whites 10" smokejumpers and thier comfort arch makes all the difference for me. My first pair lasted several years before I retired them, so even though they are quite expensive, they are worth it. I used to go through 2 or 3 pairs of DoubleH boots every year. I would break the arches in them.

On the Wolverine boots are the threads that hold the sole on exposed? That is what I like about the Redwing Pecos. The Pecos boots have the threads covered or bonded to the sole. They won't burn up, especially if you tend to weld with 6010's. I've heard of folks putting silicon on the threads to protect them but I'd rather not.

I guess all you fellows that wear lace up boots have to put leather laces on them to keep the laces from burning up too unless you are strictly a TIG welder. Then you could probably get by with flip flops.
