can any tell me if there are major or minor differents in these two codes as for as welder qualification testing?

There are both major and minor differences between any EN and any U.S. code or standard.

Different procedure qualification

Different performance qualification

Different base metal groupings

Different essencial variables

Different terminology

Different inspection criteria

EN 15085 Parts 1 - 5 are for the fabrication, welding and testing of Railway Vehicles.
Not sure there is any comparison with AWS D1.1.

Thanks for the info. I was ask the question by a welder, if it was more difficult to pass a qualification test for carbon steel plate per EN15085 than D1.1. I have never woked with any EN welding codes so I was just trying get him an answer.
