Is anyone aware of any part of the BPVC referring to SFA 5.32 in Section II Part C?

yes, its in there

SFA-5.32/SFA-5.32M Welding Shielding Gases

yes, it is in there, but does any other part of the BPVC refer back to that particular spec?  I have gone through IX and VII div 1, with no result.  I checked interpretations back til the dawn of time, and actually found that even in III, they do not require chemical analysis of the gas used in the process.  Trying to determine if the SFA 5.32 is ever used anywhere in BPVC or any of the B31.x

heres an example I found;
for QW-255 Gas Metal-Arc Welding (GMAW and FCAW) WPS , change from Single, mixture, or % of gas is an Essential Variable and referances  QW-408.2

QW-408.2 A separate procedure qualification is
required for each of the following:
(a) a change from a single shielding gas to any other
single shielding gas
(b) a change from a single shielding gas to a mixture
of shielding gasses, and vice versa
(c) a change in the specified percentage composition of
a shielding gas mixture
(d) the addition or omission of shielding gas
The AWS classification of SFA-5.32 may be used to
specify the shielding gas composition.

Yeah, I found that one, I was looking for a mandatory requirement

You can consider an essiential variable of a WPS to be a mandatory requirement.  When QW-408.2 says "may be used" section IX might be giving the user wide latitude in using gases that are proprietory in nature and not necesseraly qualified under SFA 5.32.

I was looking for clear shall or must language in the code that says you have to use SFA 5.32 as your gas specification.

I don't think you will find a statement making SFA 5.32 mandatory.
