I just saw this add on Craigslist.. Thought there mite be some guys out there that would like to fix up a OLD welder..

Kinda looks like the top front section from an old tractor! Minus the front axle, frame, rear axle, seat and driveline.

Farmall front end. Could be a "c" or an "h"

They were farm built from an old tractor and a welding generator from Hobart. T have an old Hobart book telling how and showing picture the the owners sent in.

Lincoln made shaft driven generators too, for the same purpose.

I know a guy that still welds with one of these.  I had never seen another one like it till now.  would be interesing to know more about these apparently some one was making them?

Each owner built thier own using whatever tractor or auto engine they could scrounge up. I don't have any way to copy & post the pictures in the booklet from Hobart, but they vary from simple to  complex, depending on the skills of the builder, and how much time & money they had to put it together.
