This is one of the best posts I've seen.

Is it Mardigras already? Show us your [welding] tips!

While not as interesting as the Cajun antics here, when I was teaching, I had the chance to learn some new terminology:
"1109" rod (6011 upside down)
"Oxylene" (oxy-acetylene)
"leather goggles" (not sure, but I think it's eye protection not meant for vision?)
"Jig welding" (welding performed in a fixture or while welding and dancing to Irish music?)
"Welding Tits" (Do not suckle while energized...)

Does that Miller weld controller have a Plentium inside?
Why is the welder sparking?
Does the metal get hot?

Neat!

Thats almost as good as the old welding test they used to give on some job sites, where they bend 1 rod in to a Vee then stand it and a 2nd rod up in a pyramid shape. (bent end up resting against the 2nd rod).

The test is to pick up the 2 rods with only a single 3rd rod. (no welding allowed)

If you can pass that test the last one is easy. You take a hand full (as many as you can hold in one hand) of 7018 (7024 if you got some) 1/8 or larger, put them behind your head and bend them to 90 Deg.
