I want to pull fork out and weld the screen back together , but my wife wants to hang it in the game room and call it art.

What I'd like to know is how are those inexpensive chipper blades doing

I used to service a similar unit to that, the owner's son in law beat the hell out of it every time He used it, but He never put a pitchfork through it.

You are both just a little off as I designed and built this one myself.  I spent a year designing it and two weeks building it, about 23 years ago.  Use it quit a bit.  The fork put about 5 years of wear on the ¼” thick AR plate frails, of which there are 36 of and I had just turned around for the first time last year. I once accidently put in a 5/8 X 1 ½ A307 bolt and after a few moments of rattling around it broke threw the screen and had became blued.

The one I serviced was an Amrind McKisick, a locally produced [back then] product. It was about the size of Yours, and roughly the same design.

Wow Dave, I almost called BS on you, until I went to Amrind McKisick website and seen the machine that a friend brought over for me to try when I first got into gardening. I liked it a lot and it was a major influence on my design.  I said that I had to get me one and my friend said that I should build my own.  A year later for 1/4 the price I had one 150% as mean and twice as tough that I am prod to own.

The one I used to repair was just like the picture You posted, but an older design engine. The son in law put too large a branches through the hammer mill and banged it all up. I think I fixed it every time He borrowed it.
