I have an old weld procedure qualified in accordance with D1.6 using A5.11 (incoweld 686) wire. New job coming up, same base metal (C276), but specs call for ERNiCrMo-4 wire (A5.14). A5.11 and A5.14 have the same F# , F43. Do I have to requalify my procedure? Any help will be welcomed.

Yes you have to requalify because when you go from A5.11 to A5.14 you have changed welding processes.
Also, 5.11 and 5.14 do not have F#'s. F#'s are related to classifications. These are specifications.

Nope same process GMAW. Also table 4.5 in D1.6 gives the AWS Specification number A5.11 and A5.14 the F# 43.

A couple points. If the original procedure utilized A5.11 it wasn't GMAW.
If it was A5.11 it would have been ENiCrMo-4 not ER and it would have been a coated electrode.
By changing from 5.11 to 5.14 you have to change processes. You are going from coated electrode to solid wire.

Thank you js, I think I see my problem now, original procedure dates back to 1996, before my time here, all the parameters on the WPS are written for GMAW, mode of transfer, shielding gas ,etc. I am thinking that the specification listed A5.11 has to be a typo by the original author. Thank you again for your response.

JMAC,
I do that kind of thing myself. I use existing procedures as templates with data already on them and then move down the form changing data as required. Occasionally I miss something.
