Hey guys,
One of our clients just got bagged by OSHA for not having a barrier having a thirty minute rating between oxygen and fuel gas cylinders in a storage rack. I had always thought that a steel plate, 1/4" thick constituted such a barrier. What is your experience with this? Is there anything in the literature stating what materials constitute a thirty minute barrier?

Thanks,

Jim Feeny

Hi Jim,
My guess is that NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency) is the governing code for safe storage distances and barriers.

Try NFPA 51 to see if it has the guidelines for this.

Was the plate
5' tall?
1910.253(b)(4)(iii)
