Eutectic,
our company just finshed a scrubber project where I had to qualify WPS's to exactly what you mention in your post. The only difference is we also had to qualify the procedures to ASTM A923 A,B, and C. Used Pinnicle wire and worked very well. Welded very easy. Heat input had to be kept low. Could not tell any difference between 2%N/98% Ar. and 100% Ar. The only issue we had was making sure we had a process to segregate the two gases.
