I have a small tig job to do and the base mat. is 304 stainless. I have some 316 tig wire. This is not to any code and I am just wondering if I will be able to do this successfully without any issues

You won't be able to tell the difference (from a GTAW welding perspective) between the 308 that is traditionally used on the 304 and the 316,
Actually the 316 filler is used quite often in stainless dairy applications.

That's pretty much how I thought, but I have been wrong more than twice. Thanks so much
