I'm working as  a TPI with a vessel manufacturing ,last week during inspection we found a 2'' nozzle 3 feet long Sa333 Gr6  which shall be SS316 weld overlay with single joint but due to the small diameter  this nozzle divided to a three part and after cladding manufacture made butt weld joints by a Ni ,Mo electrode GTAW ,is that the perfect solution ?what will be the alternative ?

Hi doyenofcastle

There could potentially be a number of different issues that drive material selection decisions one way or the other, but the most eligant solution to me would be to make the 2" nozzle entirely from 316SS, and weld with 309Mo consumable.

Niekie
