If we intend to conduct a training for welders and inspectors on "Visual inspection of weld", what qualifications, if any, is required from the trainer?
Is a CWI qualified if the inspection is according to ASME code?

If by the word "we", you mean first party training by the company or the owner, there are no qualifications required for "in-house" training by the company required by any American Code  or Specification that I know of.    The CWI qualification in itself does not qualify one to be a trainer. Even the CWE (AWS Certified Welding Educator) in itself, does not qualify one to be a trainer.

You might consider reviewing AWS A5.2 for guidance on how to organize an in-house certification program and to become familiar with the body of knowledge that should be covered in the training and on the examination. Then determine if your instructor has the background and knowledge to cover all the subject matter.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
