One of my boys (11 yrs) is real eager to learn to weld or anything associated with it. He badly wants to outdo his older brother who I pay for help on jobs.  By golly I think I might have a welder on my hands, he has burned a light handful of junk rods 6013/6011....this is is first lo-hy weld ever.  (1/8 7018).  Heck I think after a pound or so I might have him work some verts!

Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Keep him interested Tommy. My boy's are always trying to out do each other too. It can be kind of fun to watch as long as it doesn't get personal. My 18 yo thinks he's the big dog and it's funny when his little brothers get over on him. But I have to keep it under control or it can get ugly.

He could replace 3 or 4 welders I've been watching lately.

Wow!! That looks darn good!! Mine keep saying they want to learn but the only one outside helping me fix vehicles or build stuff is my 9 year old daughter.
