This is the first step. Two years to get the ROW approved, not counting the lawsuits.
Five years at the earliest. And there still is the engineering issues of pushing the heavy crude up hill to cross the Continental Divide.
But China has the C$$ to do it with. Good luck to the popsicles with their China partners.
I hope this can be done and Canada tells the US to take a powder and Berry to shove the Keystone XL.
Of course by then he will have had his 2 terms and the US will be way down the road of the European Socialist model and the US will not be any further along to energy non dependance.

Canada should send obama a gift card or something nice.    Since he killed keystone the oils gotta go somewhere.   so its going to go west and get loaded and shipped to china.     Way to go...

Lets hope the Indian tribes of North and South Dakota will step up and build a couple of refineries. Piss on the "O" crap.
Parent - By J Hall (***) Date 01-13-2012 18:15
That would be just the ticket.  We need to be able to handle our own oil.

The Indian Tribes in North Dakota just happen to be in the process of doing that Right Now. They break ground in the Spring

So whats all the hupla about the Keystone prodject if the refinery they are building can handle the oil? Longer lasting jobs and many turn-arrounds. Is it going to be built in America or Canada like the rumors arround Dickenson? Mandan Indians? Its  about time the Natives got into commerce. They are great Americans.  Hope they build a Nuke plant next door to help offset the cost.

Suppose "O" knows about it? If he does he sure aint saying.

It is a Sovereign Nation and the US Govt has NO control on them

The govt stopped the indians from opening a gamefowl pit in Ok, they will stop that too.

The only hitch I see is it closes the oil sands production from the world market....there are no ports in ND.  But since we are, wait were the biggest customer on the planet that is probably not a problem as long as the Canucks are willing to gamble on our economy.  I love the fact that they CAN do it and bypass the Feds on regulations, I hope they get some investors in there to pay for the lawyers to tell Washington to shove it!  Heck a refinery might make more welding jobs then the pipeline anyway.

Cactus you gonna broker some of that American Indian fuel?  At least the deal won't be backed by Allah right?
Parent - By Pickupman (***) Date 01-14-2012 02:01
Heck, Cactus could bankroll the whole venture. He's a sovereign nation too.

Tommy, Think about what you saw and heard. You already know who is financing it

I dont think they will stop a refinery owned by the Indians since they already issued the Permit for it. The Govt ALSO awarded a conncession to purchase ALL refined product that the Indians could produce. AND the gave them a garanteed 20% profit. They are going to start with a unit just outside of Newtown ND. It will produce 18000 barrels a day. Kinder Mprgan will be laying the lines for it to be loaded and transported to the Gulf Coast. They will also be laying a line to the Minot AFB

Oil don't matter anyhow. All the commercials I'm seeing us Americans won't need oil or fossil fuels anymore because we are going green. Listening to the adds sounds like we'll just wake up one morning and we won't need anything anymore.
