I am new to construction inspection and am curious as to how
welds with partial joint penetration are expected to be inspected
according to D1.1. Are they falling under the same acceptance
criteria as what's called out in the UT section? Or does the UT section
only cover CJP welds? Any information would help. I do have
6 years UT experience so the response can be a technical one. Just
had been previously doing aviation inspections, and am just getting
involved with steel construction. Thanks in advance!

A PJP is a product of a well developed and strickly followed WPS.
Weld size is deturmined (at PQR level) by etching, but in some conditions could easily be deturmined by UT (in production/construction).
